Feasting on Asphault

Well…we watched about 45 minutes of “The Libertine” on OMG it was terrible! It was SO bad we had to turn it off. We never turn movies off……unless absolutely horrible. I so do NOT recommend this movie to anyone. Johnny Depp was, of course, as always, still hot! And his acting was, as always, supurb! Nothing wrong with him or his acting. That said….the movie….awful! If I could rate the movie at a negative number, I would have!

So now…I’m watching the first of 4 installments of “Feasting on Asphault”. It’s a special with Alton Brown. He has a cooking show on Food Network called Good Eats.

*whew*….so many links!!!

Well….I’m on episode 1 of 4. So far, it’s excellent (especially after that movie! blech).

Here is what our guide says about this one entitled:

“The South Shall Fry Again”

“Part 1 of 4. Alton Brown head west from South Carolina, sampling everything from chocolate malts to pickled pigs.”

Now I’ve seen him try both of those (in the first 10 minutes) and here’s what I got so far:

Chocolate malts…Gooooooood

Pickled Pig’s Foot……Baaaaaaaad

I really didn’t have to watch this to figure that out. When at the grocery store, I see the jars of picked pig parts (try saying that 5 times fast!) and they make me gag! Yuck! Sorry if you like them….I won’t lie and say I understand though!

Back to the show!!!

Today, is our 6th wedding anniversary!

I can’t believe it’s been 6 years. It certainly doesn’t seem like that long!

If my hubby read my blog, I’d wish him a Happy Anniversary, but alas, he thinks blogs are dumb :-P Oh well, I think lots of stuff he does it dumb to. HA HA!

We’ve done pretty much nothing today really.

Last night, my dumb little Mr Kitty decided to rip up my BRAND NEW FLIP FLOPS!!!! AARRRGGGGHHHH!!!! I had had them less than a week and had just broken them in. My previous flip flops (about 5 years old) had started to get a big crack in the plastic that goes between my toes and had started pinching me, so I couldn’t wear them anymore. I drug hubby to Target and looked for maybe 10 minutes at flip flops. See…I’m not a “fancy flip flop” kinda person. I like the simple, plain, everyday kind of flip flops. I finally found some in my size and WooHoo, they were on sale!

This was a week ago today. I was devestated last night due to the senseless murder of my precious new flip flops! I really didn’t think Computer Guy noticed. We were watching a movie when it happened. Totally ruined the movie for me!

Anyway, this morning, he has to go get a part at the auto store and he’s gone for 2 hours! I was not happy. Then he got home. He told me to close my eyes and hold out my hands. I’m terrible at that!! I always want to peak. He puts a plastic bag in my hand and says that I can look now.

He took that long to get home because he was at Target buying me a new pair of flip flops! HOW SWEET!!! He even got the ones with pink and black straps like I had wanted, but they didn’t have any in my size last week! Made me feel terrible about being mad at him because he was so late!

We got back from dinner (at Red Lobster, no, not our usual anniversary dinner place, but we’re broke this year) about an hour ago. We went out with an old friend of CG’s and his wife. We used to hang out with T when we first got together when we still lived in NB, but we never really see him anymore since we’ve moved up here. He got married a few years ago and she was taking some kind of one-day class up here. Good thing! We got to go out with them for dinner and had a really good time!

Now we’re both on our computers typing away and sometime tonight we’re going to watch a movie. I guess we’d better get on that!

CG’s working on his truck “Blueberry” (guess what color it is) tomorrow, and he’s still got to go to Auto Zone since he didn’t actually go today (spent too much time looking for my flip flops!!! Awww!!!

At least I got him a card and some Reese’s Cups!!!

Love you, Honey!!! :)

Well now I’ve finally gone and done it

Nope…nothing bad. I finally bought a digital camera! I can now stop relying on the fuzzy quality of my phone’s camera!

Hip Hip Hooray! Hip Hip Hooray!!!

CG told me that when I sold our old tv, I could use that money to buy my digital camera. We had a serveral year old Sony Wega Trinitron 32″ flat screen, which we bought new and paid $1000 for. Since that was serveral years ago and it’s not HighDef, CG thought that I could get maybe $200 for it. Well….I wasn’t having ANY of that! I thought NO WAY!!! We paid SO much for this and have taken extremely good care of it. I’m not taking 1/4 of what we paid! There’s nothing wrong with it! So….good ol’ craigslist to the rescue!!! To tell you the truth, I’ve only been to the site twice before I actually posted an ad! I really didn’t think I’d get any bites.

Shows how much I know!

Within 20 minutes (actually, about 18) I had already gotten an email asking if the tv was still for sale and when could they come look at it! WOW! Cool!

To sum things up…..within 2 hours, I posted the ad, gotten 5 people who were interested in buying it, sold the tv, and taken the ad down.

I am a Believer in craigslist now!!! They should send me a T-shirt or something and I’d wear it everywhere!

Fast Forward to today….I am not a person who spends money willy nilly. I hem and haw and make my pros and cons lists and get knots in my stomach and then consider not buying anything (which is usually what I end up doing…you should see the jug of change I have in my office! And no pennies in there either…I’m way too organized for that. They have their own jug.).

I looked and looked and looked at the cameras that I could afford and thought about getting a picture printer and then thought about not getting the printer. I finally narrowed it down to one. Then I looked some more and narrowed my list down to three.

Hmpf.

I started reading more reviews and comparing and reading and comparing, etc…

Then I narrowed it down to two.

So I found where it was supposedly on sale. Drove the 30 minutes to get there and found out…from the non-helpful, sleepy, probably doped up, sales associate….or as I like to refer to him “the sales ass” that “uhh…it’s not coming up. which one was it again? when I type it in this is all that comes up. I don’t know” After about 10 minutes of that, I said (for the 4th time…and yes, I have witnesses) “It’s not the same item number”

DUH!!!

So he finds it (immediately) and then stands there for an uncomfortable amount of time while he was “looking” for the box. I happen to glance to my left and VOILA! I pointed at it and said, “Is this it?”

He blinked a few times and then something seemed to register in his head. He picked up the box and we headed to the service desk because there were just too many things going on for him, apparently.

Turns out that the sale was for online purchases only.

Gee…..would have been helpful for them to…uhh….I dunno….MENTION that SOMEWHERE on the website or on the sale card thing?!

So….30 minute drive home.

Another hour on the computer.

I found it at another store, for even less! It wasn’t listed with the rest of the cameras because it was a “bundle” (i.e. camera and printer together). For some reason it wasn’t listed under “packages” either. Good thing I had the item number.

So….25 minute drive to that store.

Found the camera, but no “bundle”. Look around for “sales ass”. There’s only one. This is odd. Normally when we’re at “Store B” there are 20 sales people over by the cameras and camcorders and they’re at you like a pack of wolves if you so much as look at the camera rack to avoid walking into it.

I stood there for 20 minutes and couldn’t catch anyone’s eye. The only girl there was helping a “lady” and her “brood” that she deemed neccessary to haul with her to the electronics store. Gee…nothing there for kids to knock over and break.

I leave and drive 30 minutes home. Traffic has gotten worse.

I look again and find a place where you can buy it online for the sale price and then go pick it up. This kind of sucks because the college kid who bought my tv paid me in cash. I was hoping to be able to just hand it over and get my camera in exchange.

They are making it hard for me to give them my money!

So….I order online….wait for the confirmation email…..and wait……and wait some more…..then finally I get it. Uh oh. I have to print it out. We’re out of printer paper. Of course. So I ended up using matte photo paper….hehe….. Don’t tell CG.

The guy at the pick up counter thought it was funny that I had to use that paper. That made the trip back to “Store B” a little better. At least I didn’t have to drive all the way back to “Store A”.

I finally get back home with camera and photo printer in tow!

YAY!!!

My very first electronics purchase!!!! I’ve never actually had to buy any of it. CG considers electronics “personal” gifts. I got my laptop for Christmas and my iPod mini for my birthday.

I’ve now read all the instructions, put everything together myself and now am desperately searching for something….ANYTHING to take pictures of!!!!!! The cats won’t sit still. CG just glares at the camera and Mr. Puppy would try to eat the camera. No Pupkis on the new camera thankyouverymuch.

Thank goodness for Stuff Portrait Friday!

This post is long enough, but I figured I’d better write something since I hadn’t in 3 days!

Everyone…..Relax!

It’s okay! Calm down. Everything’s alright now.

I have FOUND the desk stuff!

I am STILL the Queen!

*pause for applause*

thank you….athankyouverymuch

The desk is now DONE and all put together. I was kind of planning on that part taking a little longer….I’m not too sure laundry and other chores of “the like” will keep me awake.

Oh wait….there’s the coffee!

How could I forget about the coffee?! It’s my very own recipe. I’ve taken several recipes and tweeked them all into one super fantastic frappuccinno!

MMMmmmmm…..coffee…..

It’s official. I’m resetting myself. Or at least, I’m attempting to.

I’ve made it past 6 and now I’m blogging to stay awake.

CRAP!!!

The dishwasher just reached start from the time delay thingy and scared the kitties and me half-to-death! At least I got a little shot of adrenaline for that! I think I’m good to go until 7 now.

I’m watching the last recorded episode of CSI (the original, of course) that I have and I’m hoping something good will be on by the time it goes off, which should be about 10 minutes.

I still have no idea where the desk hardware stuff is. But the extensive “rip everything up until I find it” search will have to wait for a more Godly hour.

I’ve also been making my “to do” list for the day and I’m afraid I’ve listed waaaaaay too much stuff for one day. That’s the problem with being awake and board when you’re supposed to be asleep and dreaming. I always kind of “over shoot” my to do lists though. I’m very ambitious while I’m making it out, but when it comes time to doing everything, I realize that there’s just no way….and I’m not busting my butt to clean the toilets!

Let’s see, right now, on my list there are 37 things listed for me “to do”. Some of them are small, yes, but other’s are things like “laundry” which is pretty time consuming when you add in sorting, folding, and lugging upstairs with a bad back. Especially when you’ve got about 6 loads. There are other things as well, that don’t really have a time limit associated with them….like “look through cookbook”. I’ve got to look through a cookbook my aunt sent me to find family recipes that actually say whose they are. No telling how long that’s going to take.

On the plus side…..as soon as CG gets up and is awake enough, that means I can pull out my blender and it will be frappuccinno time! I’ve got to keep from napping today. This whole laying awake in bed until 3….4…..or sometimes even 5 in the morning is not an option anymore. I just can’t take another sleepless night when there have been so many in a row. I’d say I’ve been this way for about 3-4 weeks now and it’s definitely starting to take it’s toll on me. There’s no telling how many typos I’m not catching in this, but I’m not telling how many I’ve caught and corrected!!!

I know the little kid in “Jerry Maguire” said that a human head weighs 8 lbs, but right now, mine feels like about 20….my eyelids feel like they weigh 8!

I can’t tell if this whole post is complete nonsense or if I’m just that tired I can’t make sense of normal things anymore….I’d better stop before the few readers I have decide to never come back!
